Single people having
sex with single people are not committing adultery; adultery involves
married partners.
I am sure many
Christians have asked themselves why, if the woman was caught in the
very act of adultery the man was not brought as well. The Law is
very clear:
The Law did not say that the married woman alone was to be killed.
Perhaps her partner was single or they did not bring the man because he
was their friend. Maybe our Savior’s question
exposed their guilt in this very matter (Jn.8:7).
Opponents pointlessly quote Ex.20:14 to refute polygamy conveniently ignoring Ex.21 where the Lord gives commands for those men who had more than one wife.
Adultery is not taking
another wife, it is married partners having sex with other married folk
outside their marriages. David
committed adultery with Bathsheba while she was another man's wife, David did not commit adultery with
any of his wives given to him by God or taken by his own choice.
David and Bathsheba were not committing adultery when Solomon was
conceived for then Bathsheba was David's wife. |
