On the cross the Lord
died for sin and sins so at the cross polygamy or polygyny was done away
or put aside.
This is the woefully ignorant position of some Christians who want to
argue that when our Lord died for our sin and sins He died to end
polygyny. This argument fails in that it contradicts God who does not
call polygyny sin or wickedness. Our church is not God and our church
does not define sin, God does.
Does the Bible condemn polygamy? Does the New Testament condemn
polygamy? The answer to both is, NO!, in fact quite the opposite. Are
there any Scriptures which condemn polygamy or polygyny? The answer
again is an emphatic no. Yet the churches keep teaching against polygyny
with such man made arguments as above.
The Lord will use polygyny in the future as
this passage shows;
Isa 4:1
And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, we will
eat our own bread and wear our own clothing; only let us be called by
your name, to take away our shame.
Isa 4:2
In that day shall the Branch of Jehovah be beautiful and glorious, and
the fruit of the earth excellent and comely for those who have escaped
from Israel.
Isa 4:3
And it shall be, he who is left in Zion, and he who remains in
Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even everyone who is written among the
living in Jerusalem;
Notice this husband and his seven wives are called "holy" by God. God
calls a polygynous family "holy".
How can the churches call polygamy or polygyny wickedness and that
Christ died for it, when God calls such people in the future "holy"?
Monogamy in the Bible is a marriage option, but it is never the only
option, nor is polygamy condemned by God in His word, not once, ever.
The argument that the cross finished polygamy is ignorant dishonest
nonsense. Scripture shows polygyny will exist with our Lord Christ in
the Kingdom, in Israel in the future many years after the cross.
Praise God our Lord Christ died for sins but this does not include
polygamy. Polygamy is not sin and it is ungodliness to contradict God in
this matter.
Ignorance is not bliss, and while the churches continue to teach such
nonsense Christians will remain convinced that the Bible teaches
monogamy only, which is as far stretched as the argument that our Lord
died on the cross to banish polygamy.
Please be aware of such theological nonsensical arguments which are used
in some pulpits to condemn that which our Lord and His Father never
condemned.
