Another argument used against polygamy is the “no ‘church’ approves”
position. In other words, because the majority of “orthodox” believers
disapprove of polygamy Christians are to acknowledge that the weight of
"evidence" must be with the majority and stand accordingly.
The Catholic “church” is in the majority world wide so by this reasoning
we should all be Catholics.
While this nonsense argument might sound good to some it is another terrible refutation because most
Christians recognize that the Bible (which must be above all "churches") is full of examples where the
majority was in fact wrong and in opposition to the Word of the Lord.
The entire nation of Israel were brought by signs and wonders from Egypt
to the southern border of their promised land but only two, Joshua and
Caleb, had faith enough to believe that God would help them take their
inheritance (Num.13-14).
The Lord Christ witnessed to the nation of Israel 3 years, His word
confirmed with mighty signs and wonders and only 120 had the faith to
obey His command and tarry at Jerusalem (Acts
1:15).
At the end of Paul’s life only Luke was with him (2
Tim.4:11).
The Bible clearly says the following but
does the majority really believe only Christ has immortality and we put
on immortality at the return of Christ?;
1Ti 6:15-16
For He in His own time will reveal who is the blessed and only
Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has
immortality, dwelling in light which cannot be approached, whom no one
of men have seen, nor can see; to whom be honor and power everlasting.
Amen.
1Co 15:54
..when this
mortal shall put on immortality, then will take place the word that is
written, "Death is swallowed up in victory.
Polygamy is not a sin because churches don't approve, God alone defines
sin, not any priest or pastor.
The seeker of truth will ask, “what says the Lord”? The Lord has made
His position very clear, polygamy is approved by Him.
